Local goalkeepers were treated to a rare opportunity when Dunsborough JSC hosted a valuable coaching clinic run by Australian National Team (Socceroos) Goal Keeping Coach Tony Franken and ex-Socceroo keeper Tommy Maras.Such was the value of the clinic that South West Regional Development Officer Perry Krysokc hand selected a number of coaches and players from the Junior Football Academy to attend and learn from the best in the country. A number of Dunsborough Junior SC keepers also attended and received valuable training and technical advice that will remain with them forever. 14 year old Cohen Sadlier, who is muted as this years premier league goalkeeper for the seniors as well as youth league keeper for the juniors impressed both Franken and Maras with his lightening reflexes and strength. Franken, who had only just returned from National Team duties in Japan (Australia 0 : Japan 0) with the socceroos, where he mentored legendary Australian keeper Mark Schwarzer to yet another clean sheet performance. “The talent and passion of these kids is incredible,” said Franken after the session. “It really shows you how many high quality players are in the region.” Organised by Dunsborugh FC (seniors) president Tony Plumb and Dunsborough JSC President Paul Andrews, it is hoped the clinic can become an annual event. Later that day, both goalkeepers we involved in the Senior’s Penalty Shootout Competition at Bootleg Brewery and want to return next year.
