Small Sided GamesAfter a number of queries from parents regarding the starting age for small sided games I have sough clarification from the Leeuwin Naturaliste Junior Soccer Assoication and Football West regarding the status of five (5) year olds playingthis year. The official statement follows:

Players have to be turning 5 in 2009 to be eligible to play.

This means that any four (4) year old who wishes to playu and is physically ready can play so long as they turn five (5) in 2009. This is great news for youngsters who will be playing the new Small Sided Games format.

This year we will be endeavouring to communicate with you via your email and our website, so it is vital that you make regular checks to both these sites to stay informed and up to date on your child’s team and the club news. Fixtures, changes to fixtures will all be updated and placed on the website.

We suggest you check this weekly so that you are aware if there is a change to your child’s game time/pitch or cancellation etc

Due to the massive amounts of paper/time /cost and manpower associated with newsletters/registrations we have had to embrace this change, as we just don’t have the manpower to service this facility. The club will endeavour to put a copy of the latest information out onto the notice board at the “new clubrooms” but going forward the onus will largely fall on you, our members to check the website and their email.

Phoning individuals is time consuming and costly but obviously we will use this system to inform you of any last minute changes to games or fixtures?

PLEASE MAKE SURE WE HAVE A RELIABLE AND CORRECT EMAIL ADDRESS IN ORDER TO CONTACT YOU. Please complete this section on your registration form and we will check it, you may want it to change it from the one we are currently using.

We are endeavouring to try and run more sausage sizzles (maybe 3 over the whole season) after training if we can get some volunteers. Please contact a committee member if you can help out in anyway.

Please… please… remember the club cannot run without your support so please assist your club and coaches in anyway you can. We are looking for new sponsors for 2009 so if anyone is interested please contact Greg.

We look forward to seeing you all in the up and coming season and thankyou for supporting your local club.We look forward to seeing you all soon

As many of you are aware there is always an Easter Fair on the Saturday of the Easter break at the Dunsborough Playing Fields. This is a Dunsborough Sports Club initiative and as we are affiliated, we are asked to help out on this day. Our small contribution is to assist with parking on the morning of the fair between 7:00 – 8:30am… if you can assist us in this small way… your help would be greatly appreciated… as many hands make light work.
Please call Paul Andrews.

Jenny Brown assisted by Greg Hawkett applied once again to Telstra to sponsor us for a range of soccer items for our club and we have just been sent the bundle of goodies which will be distributed shortly. The list includes electric ball pump, corner flags, 2 pop up goals, 1st aid ice packs and training singlets.

Our new “grants persons” David and Kerrie Naughton will be taking on this role this year… as part of their contribution to the club. Again it’s one less job for our committee members and eases the load, so many thanks to them for their offer of support. A big thankyou also to Greg for all his efforts as he plays a major part in making sure we get what is most needed as equipments officer. A BIG BIG THANKYOU TO TELSTRA and HEALTHWAY!
